A review of Castle Grove Masonic Hall by Davesounds written on Wednesday 31st of December 2008
As a mobile disco operator i worked this site in December 2008 just before new year.
its a large hall with easy Disco / Band loading via a rear door in the car park.
The staff were pleasent and friendly providing a table as i,d requested.
The hall lighting system was a large panel with 5 seperate dimmers controlling the 10 chanderliers thus giving good control over the hall lights.
the only drawback from a function point of view
THIS HALL HAS A SOUND LIMITER!!!!!
power for the disco is provided from ONE DOUBLE SOCKET in a corner of the hall ( this socket is fed via the in house SOUND LIMITER)
in use the limiter turns on an orange lamp mounted high in the rafters and after 4 seconds CUTS THE MAINS TO THE DISCO/BAND!
as you can imagine this isnt ideal for Discos or bands useing Computers!
In use to be fair i only lit the Orange warning lamp Once but the Levels i was set werent high..so it didnt give me any problems
In short this venue would be ok for a quiet Disco but not brilliant for a loud rock group.
however its a nicely appointed well run luxury venue so i do reccomend it for weddings / conferences / meetings etc
cheers
