A review of Premier Jewellers by Anne bean written on Tuesday 2nd of June 2015
Bought a £600 diamond engagement ring for my girlfriend from this place in January. Walked in and spoke to the owners dad who i assume to be the shop assistant. I asked to see the said ring that i spotted for my girlfriend in the window and he tried it on her finger. It would need sizing up 5 sizes and he explained that it would be too much stress on the ring and it would be fragile resulting in maybe loss of stone, cracking, snapping etc.to that his son, the owner of the shop, heard this and said it wouldn't cause any of these problems and that his work was very professional and he promised there would be no problem and would even do the re-sizing for free of charge. Perfect! I gave him a £200 deposit and he said 3 days it would be ready to collect. Also perfect quick service. Went home and that night i couldn't sleep worrying about what his father said could happen to the ring and for £600 was concerned that this was to be an engagement ring and needed to last the strength of time. I rang him as soon as he opened the store and told him of my concerns. I asked if i could cancel the order and he then said 'oh, my son has already re-sized the ring' and it was not possible for me to get my deposit of £200 back. I did not believe the work was done but what could i do. So i asked for a guarantee , and he said he would issue me with one.so I went to the shop to collect the ring 2 days later as was originally planned and i collected the ring. Looked good and received a strange guarantee. 12 months actually, but misuse , loss of stone, accidental damage and alteration of jewellery it did not cover. I realise these days that stores need to protect there selves so didn't think much about it. So, 5 months down the line, as i suspected would happen, happened. The ring had snapped and lost a small diamond on the side of the ring where it cracked. The ring snapped on one of the upper sides of the ring, where his dad indicated would happen originally before even considering to buy the ring. This place is not trustworthy and avoid at all cost. They are out to get your money and will tell you anything. I am going back in a few days to ask for a full refund of the ring. Somehow I cant see it being that easy but i don't trust them to fix it and it happening again. I will be going to trading standards if this doesn't happen. I just feel like they saw me coming and i feel stupid I handed them my money after not trusting them from the word go. My girlfriends deeply upset as she will have to find another ring :(.
