A review of Skin Therapy by Sarah L written on Tuesday 26th of August 2014
Like some over reviewers, I had a Groupon voucher to try out Skin Therapy since my usual therapist (who is great) was on holiday for a few weeks.
First impressions was ok - the reception seems to be clean, clinical, and empty. There was no one at reception so I just waited around for attention. No one came even after a 10 minute wait (my massage was supposed to begin in 5 minutes) I got a little impatient so started to say call out 'hello?'. Eventually a young therapist came out to greet me. No drink was offered, just told me to sit down and passed me a form to fill in. After this, surprisingly I was led back out of the reception to another few a few doors away. Inside was about 4 beds separated out by thin grotty curtains that you may find at a hospital. The towels were very thin and I felt very cold throughout the whole massage. The window was open so I heard all the traffic and noise from outside, a few therapists were having a chat just behind the curtain where I was laying so safe to say I never relaxed. The therapist was very chatty, far too chatty and didn't seem to get my disinterested one worded responses as I just wanted to relax and not talk. Instead I was subjected to a whole hour of listening to her life story. I think the final straw was when she found a muscle knot and apparently 'popped' it. She then shrieked loudly and cringed for about 5minutes making m feel like a bit of a freak show. But isn't that why people go for massages? To relieve knots and pains?
Anyway, safe to say I will not be returning. It's about 50% cheaper than most massage/spas especially when it is on Groupon and the likes, but seriously, save your money and go elsewhere decent or you will come out more stressed than when you went in..
