A review of Royds School by N lockwood, written on Saturday 5th of May 2012
I attended royds from 1966 to 1970, we used to catch the school bus in queen street stourton. all my brothers and sisters went from stourton primary, up to royds, i came from a large family and we lived in stourton, i remember most of the teachers that were there then, mr bucktrout, mr tarpy, mr hall, mr ellis, mr keyhoe, headmaster mr fletcher, mr free, and mr robinson, who was my form teacher in 1970 my last year there, and all my classmates . i remember proper school dinners, the slipper and cane when you got caught doing something wrong, which i did now and again, do teachers still have eyes in the back of their heads that see everything that your up to. they did in my day, at least thats what mr free told me when he caught me having a sly smoke, some happy memories of a good school. neil lockwood.
