A review of Oakwood Veterinary Surgery by Emma & matt written on Monday 27th of June 2011
I had 2 dogs, one id had from a puppy and is nearly 8yrs old and the other was an 18mth old staff x pit, they lived together for almost 4 yrs when the male dog, staff x pit, turned on our female collie x,they fought for almost 40mins when exhaustion took hold and he let go of her.we took her straight to dib lane vets and left her with mr b kothari,we left the vets at 5.15pm and he rang us at 7.30pm to say it didnt look good but was willing and prepared to do what he could.he then rang us again at 11.30pm to say he'd finished surgery on her and she was still fighting.we then got a call the following morning saying we could bring her home,we went to collect her at 11.30am,i asked mr kothari what her chances were and he said slim.he's been nothing but honest and doesnt fob you off with false hopes,he tells it how it is,which i believe in situations like this, thats the best way,so this fight happened tuesday 21st june 2011,its now 27th june,we've had the male dog put to sleep, which was hard because despite what he's done and what we've been left with,he was an amazing dog,he was everything you want in a dog and more,he's greatly missed and we've decided to have him cremated privately and keep his ashes.tara, the female dog is doing really well, really really well infact,mr kothari has been seeing tara every other day,she had an appointment for today at 5.30pm but upon letting her out this morning, she was stung by a wasp or bee which made her already swollen face swell up even more,i rang the vets(dib lane)and was told to bring her straight in,when we arrived,mr kothari came out to meet us with a very reassuring smile, and thats whats particulary great about this vet,he really does reassure you and put your mind at ease.he checked her over and gave her the neccessery injections and medication.it has been extreamly tough since the fight last tuesday, tuesday night tara was operated on while kane, the other dog sat at home feeling rather sorry for himself,my partner and i were in bits, preying for tara to come through and feeling bad knowing that the next day our gentle giant would be put to sleep.since tara's op,she's come on really well,it was a shock to see her with her head and neck shaved, covered in stitches and she had to have 6 or 7 drains placed around her head and neck to drain the blood that had collected under her skin, just to look at her made you think, she's a goner,i found myself thinking the worst,it got to the point where i couldnt even look at her never mind do anything for her,but my partner and mr kothari and the young girl on reception have been amazing, tara's extreamly special to me,she really is my best friend,i love her as much as my 2 son's,i couldnt wish for a better dog!!i wouldnt trust any other vet in the world with my animals, only mr kothari,he's saved my dogs life, where another vet would have said put her to sleep,he thought different,he loves his job and all animals deserve a chance, there all worth putting the work in even if it doesnt always work.we took tara to the vet on friday just gone, and when he came through to call us in,you should have seen his face,i think he half expected us to be turning up alone without tara, that she'd not made it,yet when he saw her iv never seen a smile so big,not a genuine one like his,he was truely amazed that she look so well and when we told him she was eating, drinking, even barking when people knocked on the door and still giving paw,he just couldnt believe it,we've probably said thank you a bezillion times, yet he'll just say its not down to me,its down to her,i just did what i could, the rest is down to her,but without him doing what he did we'd be cremating 2 dogs.i would definately most definately recommend this veterinary surgery, its clean, fresh and friendly,i wouldnt let anyone else work on my pets.thank you soooooooo sooooo soooooo much for all youve done so far,i know there a long way to go yet,but youve kept our spirits positive.thank you xx .
