"Wonderful family run home!!"

I placed my elderly mother in Alexandra Court in 2002 but unfortunately she recently passed away after a long terminal illness.

I feel such a great deal of gratitude towards Jan, the care manager and all the staff at Alexandra Court, that I felt I should write a review to let others know.

It was a difficult decision putting mum in a home and one I felt incredibly guilty about but from the minute she stepped foot in Alexandra Court she said she felt completely at home. There is no urine smell in Alexandra Court which I smelt in every other home I looked at, due to the brilliant cleaning staff they have there and numerous smelly devices from M&S no less, scattered around the home. She loved the food which is usually big hearty sunday dinners although as my mum was quite adventurous in her tastes they cooked pasta, chilli and even curry for her when she felt like it. The home has a wonderful atmosphere and there are numerous family members of the owners popping in and out as well as Wray and Marilou and Marilou's two little dogs, which mum often loved to have sit on her lap.

They accomodated her every need and when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2009 I thought she would have to move to a nursing home which could provide more one on one care but Jan was determined she should be nursed at Alexandra Court and brought in extra staff when needed and ensured mum was comfortable and pain free.

Mum died last month and the care she received in her dying days was something I will never forget. She died happy and content and although I miss her every day I am so grateful that she died in a place she loved surrounded by her family, her friends and by staff who loved her as much as we did.
