A review of Yarnbury (Horsforth) R F C by Jack Grunwell written on Thursday 7th of January 2010
I joined Yarnbury RFC in 1947-8 and played in the first post war match as scrum half against Leeds NALGO after the Club was reformed.
I remember the Club well and very much enjoyed my short two or three seasons before moving to Bristol.
I am afraid I cannot name any players of that period apart from Rev Basil Rigby (local curate)also? Pete Crosby being 84
years old I suppose this is not surprising!I never returned to the Leeds area so lost contact with the Club, however I did continue playing rugby until I was
middle 50s in the Bristol area and was able to arrange a tour to Yarnbury by Barton Hill OB's a few years ago..can't remember the year but remember well the Yorkshire/Yarnbury hospitality.
My best wishes and thanks to the great Yarnbury RFC.
and would like to hear from anyone who might remember me..
